Island Home

(Ed Du Bois)
Lyrics and Music by Ed Du Bois, July 23, 2005, Copyright 2006
This is the first song that I have written without the guitar to help me. I wrote it in the car during a trip to Miami from Orlando. I had been listening to an interesting music station on the radio, kind of reggae spiritual music. I got some ideas running through my head and this song is the result. The station turned out to be a black, Christian, reggae, spiritual music station. I enjoyed it and when I was finally really getting into it after figuring out what it was, I lost reception. When I got home I grabbed my guitar, put some cords to it, created some lyrics and here it is.

PS.. The story is a common one in the Islands...lured away from your Island Home only to find out that you were much better off before you left.
Chords A and D then E on end return.

(Start with Chorus)
Island home,
Left there long ago,
Island home,
Keeper of my soul,
Island home,
Place I should've gone,
Yesterday, yesterday, Yesterday.

1
See my life,
Twisted by the strife,
See my heart,
Nearly torn apart,
See my eyes,
They're blinded by the lies,
Take me back, take me Back,
To my, island home.

Chorus

2)
Had my woman,
Wonderful to me,
Had my children,
I loved them yes indeed,
Left for reasons,
Still unknown to me,
Take me back, take me back,
To my, island home

Chorus

3)
Lived this life,
I thought was good for me,
Worked this job,
Of pain and misery,
Wasted time,
Guess was never meant to Be,
Take me back, take me Back,
To my, Island Home

Chorus
(Then finish and drift off with)
Island Home, Island Home,
Island Home, Island Home
